Phishing alert: Don't fall for fake domain name renewal emails
If you've been emailed by "DRNZ New Zealand" about domain names that you hold with us, it's a scam.
Phishing emails are targeting MyHost customers today. If you've received an email with these details (or something similar), please report it as spam. Don't click any links or open the attachment.
Subject line: Domain Notifications | DRNS New Zealand
Apparent sender: <[email protected]>
Link text: 'View Invoice'
Attachment (DO NOT OPEN): PDF file with a name like 'Invoice_1811827'
The email makes it sound as if you have a domain renewal payment due. The renewal date is fake, as is "DRNS New Zealand".
By requesting a bill payment, this attack could either steal your money and/or harvest your credit card details.
If you ever receive communications about your domains or hosting that seem unusual, you can always check with us if they're genuine - just forward emails to [email protected]. Our thanks to the customers who let us know about this phishing attack.
And if you're wondering about those domain renewal dates, you can always check them by logging into the MyHost Client Area.
